SIDE EFFECTS explores the irony of womanhood: hyper-visible as a subservient sex, yet invisible when it comes to being counted. Inspired by Caroline C. Perez’s words, the choreographer unpacks the inherited "side effects" of being a woman – passed down through generations. Through a demonstration of disappearances she has practiced, endured and at times even enjoyed, the performer claims the stage as a site of defiance. Within the prescribed time limit of 30’, she asserts visibility against a patriarchal system that erases, silences, and diminishes female existence.
